Founder & Author
Darren was born in Newport, South Wales, in 1969. A native of The Eastern Valley in Gwent, he comes from a long line of coal miners, steelworkers and railwaymen. After wiping the coal dust from his face, escaping the clutches of the wicked iron masters and dodging being drafted by roaming gangs of Male Voice Choirs, Darren ran away to join the newspapers. Starting as a street vendor, he went to work as a reporter and sports editor in several local newspapers in South Wales. He also served as a press and media officer for a voluntary organisation. He’s also worked in community radio, scientific research, as a call centre agent (he was desperate and needed the money), as an admin assistant and as a toffee apple dipper. Darren is currently rated as “mostly harmless.”
